A French restaurant in Bucharest since 2009

Ici et Là is a French restaurant open since 2009 in the heart of Bucharest, in an Art Deco house on Strada Domnița Ruxandra, a few minutes from Universitate and Piața Rosetti. Chef and owner Philippe Dupré cooks the great classics of French cuisine: gratinéed onion soup, escargots in parsley butter, homemade foie gras terrine, hand-cut beef tartare, beef bourguignon, duck breast, crème brûlée.

Generous, honest bistro cooking, made with fresh produce and recipes faithful to their origins, served in three small intimate dining rooms and, in fine weather, on a terrace sheltered from the noise of the city. French chansons in the background, a short and well-chosen wine list from France and Romania, and a welcome in French, Romanian and English.

For fifteen years, Ici et Là has been the address for locals and expats looking for a real French restaurant in Bucharest, whether for a business lunch, a romantic dinner or a family meal. Book your table online, by phone or on WhatsApp.

The chef

Philippe Dupré, chef and owner

Trained in French kitchens, Philippe Dupré opened Ici et Là in 2009 to cook in Bucharest the dishes of his childhood, without distorting them. He smokes the salmon himself, prepares the foie gras terrine, hand-cuts the tartare and simmers the bourguignon for hours. Chef cooking, but everyday cooking.

“Cooking is an act of love. Each dish tells a story. My mission is to bring the heart of France to Bucharest.”

Do I need to book?

The dining rooms are small, so we recommend booking, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings. You can send a request from the website, call us on +40 731 453 608 or write on WhatsApp. For same-day bookings, the phone is the safest option.

Is there a terrace?

Yes. In fine weather, a quiet, intimate terrace sheltered from the bustle of the city lets you have lunch or dinner outdoors. Mention "terrace" in your booking and we will do our best.

Which dishes should I try?

The escargots in parsley butter, the gratinéed onion soup, the hand-cut beef tartare with homemade fries, the beef bourguignon and, to finish, the crème brûlée or the café gourmand. The smoked salmon and the foie gras terrine are homemade.

Are there vegetarian dishes?

Yes, a few starters and dishes without meat or fish: eggplant risotto with parmesan cream, truffle risotto, eggs mayonnaise, vegetable macédoine, French cheese selection. Please tell us about allergies when booking.

How do I get there and where can I park?

The restaurant is at 7 Strada Domnița Ruxandra, a quiet street in the city centre, about ten minutes on foot from Universitate metro station and Piața Rosetti. Parking is in the nearby streets (paid zone during the day); a taxi or ride-hailing is easiest in the evening.

Do you host groups and business meals?

Yes. The three dining rooms suit tables of 6 to 12, business lunches and family meals; a room can be reserved for your group depending on the date. Call us to discuss.
